“More than 70 percent of brides-to-be want to lose weight before their wedding day, according to a new study from Cornell University. To reach the perfect wedding-day weight, more than one-third of them use extreme dieting tactics such as diet pills and fasting.”
(those Americans, lol.
Although it would have made a great 1st April prank with a fake ring.
A mystery to me how they managed to “retrieve” it after it had fallen off the bridge…)
It’s the low after the high, no longer busy feverishly planning for a common goal and perhaps even feeling “buyer’s remorse”. Nothing much seems to change after the wedding, no new and delightful world appears, and there’s still a lot of work to do such as doing the thank-you cards, paying the rest of the bills and wanting to see the wedding photographs and video which might still take weeks or months to arrive.
It’s a common problem, so it’s good to know that it exists and being prepared should it happen. Here’s an interesting article from Time Magazine:
Imagine this: You’re taking your wedding photographs when the earth shakes and the 100-year-old church nearby just crumbles. Talk about a bad omen. Hope these guys weren’t superstitious!
The hairstyle of your wedding is perhaps the most visible part of you apart from the dress. How to accentuate your look through the right hairstyle chosen on the basis of the style you want, how you look and the length of your hair.
There doesn’t seem to be any shortage of wedding photographers on the market, yet a few are well-booked regardless of their above-market pricing. Roman, an international wedding photographer based in Switzerland explains why his clients choose him.
With brides being extremely interested in talking with other brides about their planning, some are forming their own bridal network. Not having been married before, sharing the know-how needed to efficiently and cost-effectively plan their wedding has led them to this step.
With bridal stores slashing prices for gowns drastically, it’s a great way to save a lot of money for your gown. However, don’t expect a great fit and forgo the fun of trying on a load of dresses.
Considering that, I wonder if it’s really worth it…
According to this article in the New York Times, demure bridal gowns are being replaced by more glamorous, sexy ones. Inspired by what the stars wear (and get away with) at their weddings, brides are turning towards gowns with plunging necklines and backs, sometimes revealing tattoos.
The report is quite in line with an interview I conducted recently with a leading bridal gown store, in which the owner stated that the distinction between evening gowns and wedding gowns is blurring, with the sexyness of evening gowns diffusing into the wedding style. Going to church with the gown is no hinderance, since the shoulders can be covered by a stole and a veil will temporarily cover up a bit more. As soon as the ceremony is over, however, it’s party time and these accessories and removed, revealing the true highlights of the dress.
