With the unpronounceable Icelandic volcano closing air traffic in Europe, a resourceful couple had a web-wedding in Dubai, according to CNN.

“You can do it if you really want” comes to mind. And you get publicized in the media as well :-).

A wedding reception for a stranger-couple right out of town hall in New York provides a recipe for success.

Here goes:

1) A fun-loving wedding couple
2) Good music and a first dance
3) A festive atmosphere (here with tents, costumed bridesmaids)
4) A wedding cake and a cake-cutting
5) An element of surprise
6) A few short speeches or toasts, saying nice (being vague makes no difference) things about the couple
7) Champagne flutes and something nice in them
8) Gifts (doesn’t seem to be that important)
9) Rice – or bird feed – to shower the couple with
10) Surprise experiences which are out of the ordinary (here a rickshaw)
11) Cheers and laughter.
